SOLITUDE

Canyon Lake, TX - not quite the Pacific, but it will do.

"There is such a thing as creative solitude - a certain kind of loneliness out of which have risen the works of the creative spirits of the past. They were not afraid of being alone; they had learned how to use their loneliness." - Carl Sandburg

HALF WAY ACROSS THE COUNTRY..

..and I'm once again about 15 minutes from a place called Harmony Sweet. It's actually the 3rd time it's been this close to my home, but the other 2 times were in California. I had no idea they moved here when I decided to come to San Marcos, and I still find it just a bit strange. Same great owners too!

Anyway.. I will be playing there this coming Thursday, October 1st. Also sharing the bill will be friends and fellow California emigrates New Jerusalem, as well as local austin-ite Ray Prim.

Notice the B.Y.O.B. on the flyer.

"T" FOR TEXAS

I arrived in Texas about three weeks ago. My apologies for any late responses to emails, phone calls, messages, etc.. I am currently living in the town of San Marcos, just 30 miles southwest of Austin. I live in the historic district of this small college town and sometimes get deer outside around dawn and dusk. It's very green here, despite the almost complete lack of rainfall so far this year. We'll see what El NiƱo brings..

I'm still getting settled in, but I've started setting up shows and will try and hit up some open mics around town in the meantime.

"YOU MAY ALL GO TO HELL..

...AND I WILL GO TO TEXAS." - David S. Crockett

Sorry, but I had to take advantage of that quote while it's somewhat appropriate. Yeah.. so I'm moving to the Austin area to more actively participate in my music. I have been desiring a change of scenery and culture for a long time and figured a good place to start would be "The Live Music Capital of the World". I haven't actually been there to test the validity of that or any other claims, but I trust my friends who have recommended it to me for some time now.

If you happen to live in the Austin area, contact me. I will be there soon after Independence Day.

"ONE NIGHT MUSIC" SESSION

Having no plans and feeling lonely, I spent this Valentine's Day with the good people over at One Night Music in Santa Barbara, CA. Actually, they invited me to perform for their official launch party on that day in front of a small audience of site contributers and past guest artists. As they do, the crew at One Night Music made high quality video and audio recordings of the session and have just uploaded them onto their website. Below is a video of my performance of the song "Silent Streets":

You will find videos and free MP3 downloads of all 6 songs, photos, and an overly flattering review of the performance (thanks!) by going directly to One Night Music Session #8: Adam Bianchi. Enjoy - and be sure to check out the other guest sessions, including one by my friend Mike Conway with cellist Betsy Wise, who also performed a session at the launch party. I would like to again thank everyone involved with the website, production, and that weekend's festivities. Here is a group photo of the performers and crew from that night:

BLAHG #1

Welcome.. It's been awhile since I've updated my website with any new information, so here is a quick recap of some recent news:

  • "The Swift House Sessions" was nominated for EP of the Year, Acoustic Song of the Year ("Calling You Out"), and Folk Song of the Year ("I Don't Want You Anymore") at the 2008 MAVRIC Awards. No awards were taken home at the February 22nd ceremony, however "I Don't Want You Anymore" was voted Folk Song of the Year by both writers at the Ventura County Reporter, calling it a "simple but effective acoustic ballad with a haunting feel that wouldn't be out of place on an Elliot Smith or a Neil Young record."

  • If you are wondering what "The Swift House Sessions" are, you are not alone. We recorded the 7 tracks last summer and have yet to give them any official release, but plans are in the works.. The sessions include 3 new songs and 4 new recordings of songs from the earlier "Vallejo Demos" and "Eleven Demos".
